During the Microsoft Ignite 2025 pre-day, the product team has announced a new product dedicated for virtualization enviroment.
Windows Admin Center Virtualization Mode, codename Vertex, is a specialized tool for managing virtualization infrastructure, offering a centralized management experience for Hyper-V hosts, clusters, storage, and networking. It is designed for large-scale, cluster-based environments and integrates lifecycle management, global search, and role-based access control.
The idea behind this is try to replace Virtual Machine Manager with a new fresher UI, web based and flexible to use. WAC vMode is agent based, and use Postfix database to save information; even is based on the same logic of Windows Admin Center, is not like his brother that still remain alive but only to manage Windows Server ecosystem.
As I wrote, this tool is to manage Windows Server 2025 Hyper-V hosts and cluster, not for Azure Local where the management will be moved on Azure portal.

What are the other key features included:
- Parallel operations and contextual views for compute, storage, and network resources.
- Support for SAN, NAS, hyperconverged, and scale-out file server architectures.
- Integrated disaster recovery with Hyper-V Replica and onboarding of Arc-enabled resources.
- Software-defined storage and networking
And Network ATC is one of the mandatory requirement, because to onboard the server is necessary have this standard configured, and this means that your host must be Windows Server 2025 or later, Datacenter edition only.
Virtualization Mode supports up to 1,000 hosts and 25,000 virtual machines per instance. From the VM overview, you can perform common connection, power, and management actions.

Conclusions
If WAC has simplified the life of system administrators, Virtualization Mode promises to do the same for those managing complex virtualized environments. It’s not a matter of choosing between the two, but of integrating them to achieve maximum control and flexibility.
