[Updated] – System Center 2022 Update Rollup 1

System Center 2022 UR1

Last week System Center 2022 Update Rollup 1 was announced, but only for Operations Manager, Virtual Machine Manager and Data Protection Manager. The product team worked above all with a view to supporting SQL Server 2022 but also Azure Stack HCI 22H2. Nothing for Service Manager, Orchestrator and Service Provider Foundation.

What’s New?

Data Protection Manager

  • SQL Self Service Recovery Tool

  • Fix: Restoration of Hyper-V VMs fails when ISO is attached

  • Fix: Recovering a VMware disk which has a disk excluded recovers all disks
  • Fix: Long term backup to Tape crashes DPM with Null ShadowCopy error

Virtual Machine Manager

  • Azure Arc Management

  • Support to Azure Stack HCI 22H2
  • Support to VMware ESXi 7.0
  • Network improvements
  • Fix: After installing UR patch, the Agent Version in the VMM Server view is not updated correctly Highly available VMM environment
  • Fix: VMM console crashes with “OutOfMemoryException” due to orphaned checkpoint data
  • Fix: V2V migration fails as free space is calculated for an incorrect Cluster Shared Volume
  • Fix: Unable to create Azure Profile in VMM 2022 RTM

In this release, VMM dependencies on deprecated SCOM Management Packs are removed.  If you have an active SCOM – VMM integration, read this article – Update Rollup 1 for System Center 2022 Virtual Machine Manager – Microsoft Support.

Operations Manager

  • When trying to setup Log Analytics connection a timeout would sometimes get an error 200
  • When for some reason a badly formatted XML would be encountered, the contents of this XML would be saved to a file called “Bad.xml” inside of the System32 directory. This functionality has been disabled, to enable it (for debugging purposes) this registry key should be created and set to the value of 1
  • Crashes of MonitoringHost.exe instances which are related to SNMP Discovery
  • Added a configurable Timeout setting in the registry to control the SDK Client Task timeout. This is now configurable via creating this registry key (this needs to be created and set on all existing Management Servers):[HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\System Center\2010\Common\SDK Service] – SDK Task Timeout Seconds DWORD type and should have the value set in seconds (default is 1800 seconds)
  • Teams integration failing due to incorrectly named binary file
  • Added indices to 2 Data Warehouse tables to improve performance
